Hi, I’m Tracy — your guide to the wonderfully addictive world of American Mahjong!
I’ve loved strategy games my whole life — growing up around card tables, rummy hands, backgammon, mancala, mastermind and monopoly. That love of logic, luck, and laughter eventually led me to Mahjong — a game that stole my heart from the first play and continues to challenge, entertain, and connect me every single day. Gathering around the table for family game nights that stretch long into the evening is a passion — and I’m thrilled to share that joy through beginner and intermediate classes that make mahjong approachable, social, and endlessly fun.
Making Mahjong Approachable
As a certified instructor through OhMyMahjong, my teaching style is one that is focused on fun and grounded in connection and support. We’re on a mission to share Mahjong’s joy with our community, bringing groups of people together and supporting friendships both old and new.
We build a welcoming community around Mahjong, where people can connect, learn, and celebrate the game together. We follow the NMJL rules, inviting casual learners without being too competitive just yet (there are leagues for that!)
We play on beautifully curated and carefully crafted tile and mat sets, which I bring to your location. Player groups of 4 are recommended for optimal gameplay.
We stay true to the games heritage, and honor Mahjongs roots by including tiles with traditional Chinese characters.
As an instructor, my students can enjoy a 10% discount on their own beautiful mat and tile sets via this link OhMyMahjong or by entering the discount code DRAGONDEAL at checkout. After you play, you won’t be able to wait to have your own set!
Why we gather:
Connection through Play
Mahjong is more than just tiles — it’s togetherness.
Around a mahjong table, strangers become friends, laughter fills the room, and time seems to disappear. It’s a game that encourages conversation, community, and celebration.
Each class and event I host is designed with that in mind — whether you’re playing to learn, to laugh, or to simply be together.
From casual mornings to lively evenings, every gathering is a reminder of what makes this game so special — it brings people together in a way few things can.

"The concept is to create order out of chaos based on random drawing of tiles. It's sort of like life. Every day we try to make a little bit of order out of the chaos of life just with our random acts of, hopefully, wisdom and kindness.”
